Richmond is in dire need of funds to pave its streets and fill its potholes.

“There is simply not enough money coming in to maintain Richmond’s streets,” Councilman Tom Butts said at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

Because of this, Richmond officials are drafting language for a half-cent sales tax measure that would appear on the November ballot, as directed by City Council Tuesday. The Council is scheduled to vote on that language next month.

The story, however, isn’t that simple. The West County Times explains in detail here.
