Richmond police want to know whether changes at the department have improved their effectiveness and responsiveness.
Capt. Manjit Sappal is distributing a short online survey asking residents whether Richmond officers are approachable, visible and personable, among other questions. The survey can be accessed here.
“The survey is confidential, voluntary, and anonymous,” Sappal said. “I hope that the results of the research will help us continue to improve our services.”
The captain has asked residents to widely share the survey’s link with their neighbors.
Last year, Richmond recorded 16 homicides, its lowest total since 1980. In 2009, there were 47 homicides. Overall crime has decreased as well. According to this West County Times article, the department’s success can be attributed to fresh faces and tactics and also community support.
