The brother of a Richmond teen who was struck by a stray bullet while watching television in her home last month  is trying to raise funds for his now-paralyzed sister.
Dominique Romero, 19, was sitting on the couch of her Waller Avenue home when she became the unintended victim of a shooting on the street. One of the bullets punched through the wall of her home, traveled through her arm and then became lodged in her spinal canal, Romero’s brother Chris Solis said.
As many as nine shots were reportedly fired. Police are still hunting for the shooter.
“She was a hard working girl who was spending every check to buy Christmas gifts for our 3 nieces and 7 month old nephew,” Solis said. “I’m asking for any donations to help cover medical expenses for her and/or donations to help give her a somewhat decent Christmas.”
As of Thursday, Solis’ campaign was more than halfway to its fundraising goal, having received $5,377 via more than 106 contributions.
